This painting was made as a study for a large and quite formal still life I was asked to paint for a client. Commissions are always tricky and I hadn't painted this kind of set up since being at uni. I have a tedency to over crowd set ups and this was no different. I love the effusion of flowers and fruit and enjoyed tackling drapery. I have a student drapery lesson which is greeted with horror by my students so it was a good additional challenge to have to paint draping myself.
