About

Hi, I'm Helen Evans

I have been a practising artist since graduating with an MA in textiles from Manchester Metropolitan University in the north of England. I spent several years living and working in Bermuda before relocating to the Samford area of south east Queensland in 2008.

My current practice is concerned with my home environment. I have worked in most media through my career, including oil, acrylic, watercolour, gouache, print making, mixed media, textiles, papier mache, mosaic, clay, metal and encaustic. My work has been exhibited in group and solo shows in the USA, Canada, Bermuda, UK, Russia, Caribbean, Russia, Australia and Poland. My work can be found in private, public and corporate collections. I have freelanced as an illustrator, greetings card designer and tutor.

I have been teaching art in Australia since 2010. I opened The Art Train in 2014. The Art Train was originally in a rented, converted train carriage in Samford Village, north west of Brisbane. It was located there for 5 years until late 2018 when unfortunately, the carriage was sold, and The Art Train had to vacate. All is not lost, the art classes and studio have relocated back to my beautiful home studio in Cedar Creek. It's bigger, brighter and cooler with fabulous mountain views.

The Art Train functions as studio, gallery and classroom. I have weekly classes for adults and children during school term times, all day holiday workshops for children during every school break, Guided Painting, Arty Parties, Corporate event, Wellbeing events, commissions, and specialist workshops for adults.

I am excited to have my Guided Painting now available digitally as a downloadable class.
