Watercolour

 " Simple Gifts" is a theme I have returned to periodically for many years. I aim to honour overlooked natural objects for their simple extraordinary beauty. Most of the objects in this particular series have been found on my daily walks or whilst at the beach. The process of finding the objects is an important part of the practice. Observing, finding and considering each one for my growing collection of pebbles, shells, seeds and leaves. Arranging the formal compositions, carefully observing the rhythms, shapes and colour is critical. Over the years I have explored this theme in a range of media including monoprint, pastel and paint.

Watercolour is a challenging media and I use the required patience of this beguiling media as a mindfulness practice.
