Samford and Surrounds Open Studios and Arts Trail 2019

The SSaS Open Studios and Arts Trail (known as The Trails) have been running since 2014. 2019 is my fifth year participating. This will be the first year I will only be in my in my home studio. In previous years I opened my studio in the train carriage and my home studio for every weekend. This year I am opening for the middle two weekends only.

June 2019 has 5 weekends and the Trails will run for the first four. The final and fifth weekend of June has been set aside as a Workshops Weekend. I will be running an encaustic workshop that weekend. Bookings and details are on the website.

So, what are the Trails? The Trails were set up after much consultation, fundraising and planning by many dedicated volunteers to give locals and visitors the opportunity to see the remarkable talent of the creative people of Samford and Surrounds. The first trail extended from Mount Glorious through Samford Valley and up to Mount Mee.

Each year we have had around 30 artists opening their studios. Some artists opt to exhibit in group venues as they don’t have studios which can be opened to the public.

This year I will open the home studio in Cedar Creek for two weekends. I have hung the shed with my art and am busy working on some new pieces for the Trails. There is a variety of mediums, acrylic, watercolour and encaustic. Art which was previously hanging in the Train is so much more visible in the shed. The walls are white, and the light is so much better.

The studio will be open from 10 am until 4pm on June 8, 9, 15 and 16 th. You are probably best to park on the road and walk along the drive and down to the studio.

I’ll look forward to seeing you.
